How to use this username generator

  1. Type a word you like (your name, a nickname, a hobby). It is optional: leave it empty for fully random ideas.
  2. Pick a style, or keep “All styles” to mix everything.
  3. Press Generate. Tap any result to copy it, or the heart to keep it in your favorites (saved on this device only).
  4. Not inspired? Press Generate again: every batch is new.

What makes a good username?

  • Easy to say and spell. If friends cannot type it after hearing it once, it will be hard to find you.
  • Short. Under 15 characters is easier to remember and fits everywhere.
  • Few numbers. One number can save a name that is taken; four random digits make it look like a spam account.
  • Same name everywhere. Pick something that is still free on the apps you use most, so people recognize you.
  • No personal details. Avoid your full name, birth year, school or city.

Username name rules

Every name this tool shows already follows these rules, so it can be used as is:

  • Between 3 and 20 characters.
  • Allowed: letters, numbers, underscores (_), periods (.).
  • Cannot start or end with “.” or “_”.
  • No two “.” or “_” in a row.

Platforms sometimes update their rules. If a name is refused, the platform's own message is the final word.

Frequently asked questions

Is this username generator free?

Yes. It is free, has no sign-up and runs entirely in your browser. You can generate as many names as you want.

Can I use a generated username anywhere?

Yes. The names are random combinations of common words, so you are free to use them. Each platform has its own rules: if you need one for a specific app, use the dedicated pages (Instagram, TikTok, Discord, Roblox…) which follow that app's exact rules.

How do I know if a name is free on an app?

This tool creates ideas; it cannot see an app's private list of taken names. Type the name in the app's sign-up or “change username” screen: it tells you right away if it is taken. If so, try adding one number or a separator such as “_”.

Are my favorites saved?

Your favorites are stored only in this browser, on this device. Nothing is sent to us. Clearing your browser data removes them.
