How to use this Discord username generator
- Type a word you like (your name, a nickname, a hobby). It is optional: leave it empty for fully random ideas.
- Pick a style, or keep “All styles” to mix everything.
- Press Generate. Tap any result to copy it, or the heart to keep it in your favorites (saved on this device only).
- Not inspired? Press Generate again: every batch is new.
Username vs. display name on Discord
Discord now has two names. Your username is unique and strict: lowercase letters, numbers, “_” and “.” only. Your display name is what people see in chats, and it can contain capitals, spaces and emoji.
This tool generates usernames. For a fancy display name, try the aesthetic generator with the “With symbols ✿” style.
Discord name rules
Every name this tool shows already follows these rules, so it can be used as is:
- Between 2 and 32 characters.
- Allowed: lowercase letters, numbers, underscores (_), periods (.).
- Lowercase only: capital letters are turned into lowercase.
- No two “.” in a row.
Platforms sometimes update their rules. If a name is refused, the platform's own message is the final word.
Frequently asked questions
How do I know if a name is free on Discord?
This tool creates ideas; it cannot see Discord's private list of taken names. Open User Settings → My Account → Username and type it: Discord tells you immediately if it is taken.
Why are all the names in lowercase?
Discord usernames are lowercase only. Capital letters are allowed in your display name, not in your username.
Can my Discord username have spaces or emoji?
No. Only lowercase letters, numbers, underscores and periods are allowed in usernames, and you cannot use two periods in a row. Spaces and emoji work in your display name.
