Instagram name rules
Every name this tool shows already follows these rules, so it can be used as is:
- Between 3 and 30 characters.
- Allowed: lowercase letters, numbers, underscores (_), periods (.).
- Lowercase only: capital letters are turned into lowercase.
- Cannot start or end with “.”.
- No two “.” in a row.
Platforms sometimes update their rules. If a name is refused, the platform's own message is the final word.

How do I know if a name is free on Instagram?
This tool creates ideas; it cannot see Instagram's private list of taken names. Tap “Check on Instagram” next to a name: if a profile opens, the name is already used.
How do I change my Instagram username?

Why can't I use symbols in my Instagram username?
