Engagement rate formulas
By followers (the most common): (likes + comments + shares + saves) ÷ followers × 100
By views (better for TikTok and Reels, where many viewers do not follow you): (likes + comments + shares + saves) ÷ views × 100
Enter the totals of one post, or the totals of several posts and how many posts they cover: the calculator gives the average per post.

What is a good engagement rate?
There is no official scale, and it depends on the platform and account size. As a rough guide for the rate by followers:
- Under 1%: low
- 1% to 3%: average
- 3% to 6%: good
- Over 6%: excellent
Small accounts usually have higher rates than big ones, so compare yourself with accounts of a similar size.
Frequently asked questions
Should I count saves and shares?
Yes, if you have them. Saves and shares show that people value your content even more than a like does. Leave the fields at 0 if your platform does not show them.
Why is my engagement rate by views lower than by followers?
When a post reaches many people who do not follow you, views grow faster than reactions. That is normal on TikTok and Reels, and it means your content travels.
Do brands look at engagement rate?
Yes. Many brands look at engagement rate before follower count, because an engaged audience is more likely to act on a recommendation.
