How to make random teams
- Paste or type names, one per line. Your list is kept on this device for next time.
- Choose Number of teams (for example 4 teams) or People per team (for example groups of 3).
- Optionally tick Fun team names and Pick a captain for each team.
- Press Make teams. Not happy? Press Shuffle again for a new draw.
- Copy teams to paste them in a chat, or Share list to send your names as a link.
Picking just one person? Spin the wheel spinner instead.
Are the teams balanced?
Teams are always the same size, give or take one person. When the names do not divide evenly, the extra people are spread one per team, never all in the same one. The draw itself is fully random, so skill is not taken into account: if you need balanced skill levels, list players from strongest to weakest and split them into two separate draws.
Frequently asked questions
Is the result really random?
Yes. Every result is drawn with your browser's cryptographic random generator (the same one used for security), so each entry has exactly the same chance. The spin animation only shows the result; it does not decide it.
What if the number of people does not divide evenly?
The extra people are spread over different teams, so team sizes never differ by more than one.
Can I use it for a classroom?
Yes. Paste your class list once: it stays saved in this browser, and you can draw new groups for every activity in one click.
Where do the team names come from?
