Usernames vs. display names with symbols

Most apps only accept letters, numbers, “_” and “.” in a username (your @handle). Symbols like ✿, ☾ or ♡ are usually only allowed in your display name, the name shown on your profile.

Pick the style “With symbols ✿” to get decorated names for your display name. All the other styles give clean usernames you can use as your @handle.

Tips for an aesthetic name

• Lowercase looks softer: moonpetal feels calmer than MoonPetal.
• Nature, sky and color words work well: moon, lavender, willow, opal, dusk.
• A dot or underscore can replace a number when your name is taken: moon.petal, moon_petal.

Every name this tool shows already follows these rules, so it can be used as is:

• Between 3 and 30 characters.
• Allowed: letters, numbers, underscores (_), periods (.).
• Cannot start or end with “.” or “_”.
• No two “.” or “_” in a row.
