Controller Tester

Plug in your controller and press a button: see every button, trigger and joystick live, and find out if your sticks drift.

Connect your controller, then press any button.

USB or Bluetooth: Xbox, PlayStation, Switch Pro and most PC controllers work. For security, browsers only show a controller after you press one of its buttons.

How to test your controller

  1. Connect your controller with a cable or Bluetooth, then press any button. Browsers only show a controller after a button is pressed.
  2. Press each button: it lights up on the drawing, then keeps a green outline once tested.
  3. Squeeze the triggers slowly: the bars should fill smoothly from 0 to 100%.
  4. Move each joystick in full circles, then let go: the values should come back close to 0.00.
  5. Press Test vibration to check the rumble motors (Chrome and Edge).

How to check for stick drift

Stick drift is when your character or camera moves on its own while you are not touching the stick. To test it, put the controller down and do not touch it for a few seconds. Watch the stick values:

  • 0.00 to about 0.05: normal, games ignore such a small offset (the “dead zone”).
  • Around 0.10 and more while nothing touches the stick: the tester shows a drift warning. Games may notice it.

Mild drift often comes from dust: blowing compressed air around the stick base while rotating it can help. Many games also let you raise the dead zone in their settings. If drift gets worse, the stick module usually needs repair or replacement.

Compatible controllers

Most controllers work: Xbox (One, Series X|S, 360), PlayStation (DualSense, DualShock 4), Nintendo Switch Pro, and most generic PC gamepads, in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari. Button labels change automatically for PlayStation and Nintendo controllers, or you can choose them in the menu. Several controllers? Each one gets its own tab.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my controller not detected?

Press a button after connecting it: browsers hide controllers until then, for privacy. If it still does not appear, try another cable (some are charge-only), another USB port, or re-pair it in your Bluetooth settings. Close apps such as Steam or DS4Windows if they take over the controller.

Why does vibration not work?

Vibration from a web page works in Chrome and Edge with most Xbox and PlayStation controllers. Firefox and Safari do not support it yet, and some generic controllers have no motors.

The buttons look mixed up. Is my controller broken?

Probably not. Some controllers do not use the standard layout in the browser, so their buttons are numbered differently. Open “All buttons and axes” below the drawing to see every raw value.

Is my controller data sent anywhere?

No. The test runs entirely inside your browser. Nothing is recorded, stored on a server or sent to us.
